MORE DETAILS FROM CHAIRMAN BECKY ROBINSON:

The carnival theme is ‘Britain Through the Ages’ and we would like an eclectic bunch of local groups of all ages to design and chalk the semi-permanent mural during the weeks leading up to the carnival. The serpent will be a stunning centre-piece to the carnival beach activities, and will last for at least a month.

Each group will receive blank serpents to create their design upon, and should choose their own winning design. The Open Door Artists will then allocate sections of the serpent for each group to chalk directly onto the surface of Sheringham West Prom (winding from the bridge to the Two Lifeboats pub). The serpent will appear as if breaking in and out of the concrete, and the chalking will begin on the weekend of the 14th of July (weather dependant). Each group will receive expert help to chalk their serpent from the Open Door Artists, and all materials will be provided. The chalks will then be fixed by the group.
